Katie & Wes Engagement Session- Nailsworth, Cotswolds

Katie & Wes Engagement Session- Nailsworth, Cotswolds

Nailsworth Engagement Session I loved exploring this adorably quirky place for this Nailsworth engagement session! Katie and Wes got in touch after being recommend by one of Katie’s work colleagues, who happens to be a good friend of mine. Their wedding is in March next year which I’m sure will come around quickly once Christmas is over! (I know, I know, I mentioned the C word and it’s only November!) I met the guys deep in the heart of the Cotswolds in the gorgeous Minchinhampton Common. Their wedding venue is this beautiful old building, suitably named, the Old Lodge. It’s far away from main roads and down a gravel track with views over the rolling hills down to the Stroud Valleys. The lodge’s decor is stunning and unique which suited Katie and Wes perfectly. We decided to venture down the hill into the neighbouring market town of Nailsworth which is a picture perfect Cotswolds town! The pair brought along their adorable dog, a wire hair Dachshund. She  isn’t coming along on the wedding day so to bring her to the engagement shoot was the next best thing. I’m so glad they did! Wandering around the town with these two was great fun and we found that Nailsworth was surprisingly quirky! Graffiti artwork adorned a few walls around the town. We even found a cool cocktail bar within an old banking hall! I loved doing something different for this engagement session, bring on the... read more
The Batleys – Family Session, Hampshire

The Batleys – Family Session, Hampshire

The Batleys When Charlotte asked if she could get her mum, Muma Bat, a family photoshoot for her birthday, I thought it was a great idea! Plus a fab way to meet all the family before Charlotte’s wedding. Charlotte is getting married in May 2018, remember her engagement session at Frensham Pond in Surrey? They opted to do the session at the family home in Hampshire. Their family garden is huge and it meant the photographs would be personal to them all as it was a recognised place. Not to mention plenty of cups of tea on hand, you don’t get that at a local park! With 3 grown up daughters, their dad is slightly outnumbered with girls in his family. Luckily they had newphew Thomas there to jump in for a few photographs too. Not to mention their two gorgeous dogs, Trigger and Ralph! Making It Personal Charlotte’s mum, Debbie, loves sunflowers so we incorporated this into the shoot too, giving them something quirky but personal to the Batleys to frame. Debbi and Tony have been together for an incredible 34 years! They’re so happy together and still giggle and flirt like they’re teenagers! Everyone was in brilliant spirits for the session, the champagne may have helped things along too! The sun came out towards the end, and despite the bench sinking into the soft ground, the session was a success. I’ll be seeing them all again in May for Charlotte’s wedding, I can’t... read more
What is a Pre-Wedding Shoot?

What is a Pre-Wedding Shoot?

If you haven’t realised already you’ll soon find out that all my 2018 full day wedding bookings come with a complimentary pre-wedding shoot! You’ll get to meet me, in person, shooting you, before your wedding! Hello! So… what is it? Engagement shoots, pre-wedding sessions, couple shoots… there are so many different names for these couple sessions. Whatever you want to call it, they all pretty much describe exactly what it is. It’s a great excuse to show off your engagement, it’s a way to practise having your photo taken together before the big day, but it’s primarily a time to capture your love for each other! I always think, in this digital age, the majority of couples have lots and lots of selfies together, which is awesome! But do you frame a selfie? Unlikely! My main goal during these sessions is to create gorgeous artwork which you’d happily frame and put up around your home. I want you to be proud of your love for each other, being in love is awesome!   But we’re so awkward having our photograph taken! One of the best things about your couple session is that it shouldn’t feel stuffy and awkward. It should feel like hanging out with an old friend, messing around and having fun. I don’t like stiff poses and I’m not a photographer who will put you in an exact pose which you must stay in. The way I work is, I give you both prompts to interact with each other. I’ll ask you questions, get to tell each other your favourite moment together, ask you to whisper silly things... read more
Mr & Mrs Nash- Folly Farm Centre, Bristol

Mr & Mrs Nash- Folly Farm Centre, Bristol

Folly Farm Wedding The Venue This gorgeous Folly Farm wedding was at a stunning venue on the outskirts of Bristol. It’s 250 acres of wildflower meadows, ancient woodland and gorgeous scenery all surrounding the 18th century farmhouse. “We chose Folly Farm because on our first visit we drove up the drive way and without seeing the venue we both knew it was where we would get married! After seeing the venue and knowing we could have it exclusively from Friday to Sunday, we booked our date in straight away! Throughout planning we took any chance we could to go back to visit and the team there were great! Any idea we had Stella was fully on board with and couldn’t do more to help us! It has become a very special place to us.” I first met Ashleigh and Kerry at their beautiful venue of Folly Farm nestled within the rolling Somerset hills. They were there on a venue viewing as usually they live in Surrey. The second time we met was also at the venue where they had their engagement session.  This session allowed us to spend our time wandering around the venue and finding all the best places for photographs. This was such a blessing as on the wedding day we knew exactly where to go! “We met around 11 years ago when Kerry used to come round our house for BBQs, drinks and crazy fancy dress with my parents. Kerry then moved with the Army (to Canada) and came back to the UK in 2015. After asking my dad for his permission to take Ashleigh on... read more
Highcliffe Castle & Haven Hotel Wedding, Dorset- Mr & Mrs Holdcroft

Highcliffe Castle & Haven Hotel Wedding, Dorset- Mr & Mrs Holdcroft

Highcliffe Castle and Haven Hotel Wedding Louise and Daniel had the most beautiful Highcliffe Castle and Haven Hotel Wedding on the edge of the Dorset coastline. The castle gives up it’s Wintergarden room, full of huge windows and old stone walls, for the most romantic wedding ceremony venue.  The pair met a few years ago in a nightclub in Bournemouth when Louise accidentally bumped into him on the dance floor! Since then they’ve added three adorable dogs to their little family! I met the girls in their hotel room at Haven Hotel and Spa in Sandbanks. Sandbanks is one of the UKs most expensive areas to live, £10,000 per square metre! You can see why, its gorgeous beaches and views over to the Isle of Wight make it a truly magical location. “Highcliffe Castle was the perfect place for our ceremony and we fell in love with it as soon as we saw it! We loved the idea of getting married in an old castle. We also loved that the Haven Hotel was right on the beach, with amazing views!” Louise had a kind friend come and do everyone’s hair and she did her make-up herself. The girls room looked down onto the hotel front, meaning Louise could see the wedding guests arriving to get the bus to the ceremony. She was so calm all morning but seeing the guests arriving suddenly made it all seem very real! After a glass of prosecco or two, Louise’s dad met her outside the Haven Hotel with an old style Bently to drive them to Highcliffe Castle. The ceremony room perfect, a gorgeous sunny day meant... read more
Mr & Mrs Williams- Fairways Hotel, Porthcawl, South Wales

Mr & Mrs Williams- Fairways Hotel, Porthcawl, South Wales

Fairways Hotel Wedding- Porthcawl South Wales Luka and Russ chose to have a Fairways Hotel wedding on the seafront in Porthcawl. This venue is so special as it has this beautiful orangery conservatory which looks out onto the sea! It was the perfect backdrop for their wedding breakfast and the light it let into the building was a photographers dream! “We chose the fairways as it was so flexible and we got to choose everything ourselves!  It’s a perfect location by the sea- our families favourite place to be. We also had the whole venue to ourselves which was perfect.” The pair met through a mutual friend and would always bum into each other in town, still to this day Russ won’t admit he made the first move! He finally plucked up the courage to ask the questions whilst in Prague on holiday. “He carried the ring in his pocket all weekend until he found the perfect spot in Letna park. He made me sit there for ages to wait for people to leave!” The Morning Luka got ready at her mums house in Bridgend with her bridesmaids, mum and daughter Isla. While Russ got ready at their own home with his groomsmen and their son, Oliver. The morning was relaxed and full of pampering with the girls getting their hair and make-up done- even little Isla! The skies were dark and grey all morning and suddenly the rain gushed from the clouds but luckily didn’t last long. Sadly, Luka’s dad had previously passed away and wasn’t there for her wedding. However he had his own chair during the ceremony and was thought of fondly... read more
Announcement Shoot!- Amy-Jo & Sean

Announcement Shoot!- Amy-Jo & Sean

Announcement Shoot! I’ve been in constant contact with Amy-Jo since her gorgeous wedding at Berwick Lodge back in April. When I received an email from her saying she has a ‘little announcement to make to friends and family‘ and would like an announcement shoot to do it, I knew what she meant instantly! We met at Caldicot Castle one sunny September evening. Amy-Jo, being the organised person she is, made beautiful calligraphy signs to match the one she made for her wedding. The wedding ones had quotes from love stories on them and these ones were just as sweet! I loved how the small details of their wedding could be tied into this session too. During the shoot we had to be careful to to avoid the tourists also enjoying the glorious evening in the castle grounds, just incase they saw someone they knew! This was a complete secret after all. The Welsh sun was glowing amber as we wrapped up the session with some couple portraits. I’m completely over the moon that they asked me to document this special time in their lives. I can’t wait to be involved in the next session we have planned! Thank you so much for inviting me to capture this awesome time in your... read more
Bailey Jones- Newborn Photography

Bailey Jones- Newborn Photography

Newborn Photography It’s not often I get to do a newborn session but I absolutely loved it. I was originally contacted by Claire to photograph her wedding day in June 2017. The venue was booked and Dom and Claire were in the midst of wedding planning. But baby Bailey had other ideas! Claire found out she was pregnant so they decided to postpone the wedding until Bailey could come too. Instead we set up a newborn session with their latest edition to their little family. Bailey was a dream to photograph! After two lots of milk and some cwtches from mum and dad he settled down and fell right to sleep- exactly what we wanted him to do. Bailey was a great age for a newborn session, at only 13 days old! We used the natural light in their home and included Bailey’s favourite toys too. Claire had purchased the sweetest wicker basket and Dom had his beloved Arsenal football shirt ready to use in the photos too! I even managed to persuade mum and dad to get in for a few shots too. It was a pleasure photographing little Bailey for his newborn session, hopefully I’ll be seeing him again at their postponed... read more
