Mr & Mrs Suker- Black Tie Wedding at Penpont House, Brecon

Penpont House Wedding

I LOVED Eleanor and Rob’s Penpont House Wedding! I first met Eleanor and Rob at Mr & Mrs Fletcher’s wedding back in April 2017. When they got engaged and came to me I was so happy to hear from them! Their venue is the stunning Penpont House wedding venue in Brecon. The venue is close to Eleanor’s heart because she grew up there as a child and used to spend her days playing in the grounds. Eleanor’s family friends own the house and its local to her childhood home. She said it was “truly the only place I would have got married!” Once Rob asked the question, she showed him the venue and luckily he fell in love with it too and they could start planning their Penpont House Wedding!

The morning started with a drizzly Welsh day but the house was stunning regardless. The bridal suite was calm with Eleanor and her mum having their hair and make-up done. Esme, Eleanors niece, arrived to put on her gorgeous gold bridesmaid dress. Rob and his ushers got into their timeless black tuxedos in another room close by before walking to the church to greet the guests arriving.

Ceremony

The ceremony was in the church on the edge of Penpont House’s grounds so there wasn’t far to go. No photographs were allowed to be taken during the actual wedding but the bride walked down the aisle to the traditional Pachbelle Canon in D just as the grooms mother had done years before. Eleanor’s parents had secretly organised for the Welsh Male Vocal Choir to come and perform a few songs inside the church. It was hauntingly beautiful and a perfect end to a gorgeous ceremony.

The guests made the short walk back up the Penpont House just as the sun came out! Drinks from the gin station, canapes and photographs were had whilst enjoying the unexpected sun in the gardens.

With Eleanor being an incredible event planner herself, her attention to detail on her wedding decor was incredible. She had gone for an elegant gold, white and greenery theme which went so well with the black tie dress code.  There was an entire cake station, not just one wedding cake, by the talented Anna Cake Couture. Eleanor’s talented dad had hand-carved welsh love spoons for everyone as their wedding favours. Robs dad had hand-made all the signs for the wedding too.

Amazing food was provided by Prickly Pear Catering and the speeches, lit by fairy lights, were simultaneously hilarious and emotional. The evening brought a fish and chip van (amazing idea!), a pimp your prosecco station, a retro photo mirror and a classy first dance to Etta James- At Last. Which opened the dance floor to some fantastic dance moves!

We ended the night with sparklers under the welsh stars. Thank you SO much for trusting me to capture your amazing Penpont House wedding!

When I asked the couple what advice they would give to others planning a wedding they said: “Enjoy every moment of the planning, there is two of you in the planning (and you can both make decisions). The things you may worry about and stress about getting right won’t matter the closer you get to the big day – you will just want it to come now. Also do what you want and try not to worry about pleasing everyone.”
