Postponements and planning
Laura and Josh eventually ended up with a beautiful, autumnal Penallta House micro wedding. But they had such a rollercoaster of a time planning this wedding. Originally, they had planned a beautiful big celebration at St Pierre in Chepstow for September 2020.
Unfortunately, Coronavirus had other ideas and they had to rethink their wedding plans entirely! The Welsh government allowed for 30 people to attend a wedding ceremony so that’s what they planned for. Just 10 of their closest family and friends at their St Pierre Micro wedding.
But 5 days before, a local lockdown happened in the Caerphilly borough which is where they live!
After multiple calls to the Welsh government, St Pierre and Monmouth Registry office, it seemed that it just wasn’t meant to be.
They thought on their feet and quickly rearranged for their local registry office for about a month later. Luckily, they got in just in time and they had their beautiful Penallta House micro wedding just 6 days before the whole of Wales was back in another strict lockdown!
Their Penallta House Micro wedding- finally!
Their wedding day was just perfect. A super micro wedding with just 9 of their family to watch them tie the knot at Caerphilly Registry Office. The ceremony was sweet with 3 lovely readings from the registrar herself.
We exited the ceremony to be greeted by Laura’s grandparents who instantly made everybody cry with emotion!
We spent the next hour in the wedding garden at Penallta House for confetti fun and family group photos too. The rest of the guests headed off to a nearby park whilst I kept Laura and Josh back for some couple photos in the gardens.
We followed the rest of the guests to the park where a further 20 of their friends were waiting (to keep in line with the 30 person rule outside!). There were more photos, lots of congratulations and a huge champagne spray too!
A perfect example of how you can still have an incredible wedding day even with the strict rules surrounding weddings right now. They made a little piece of history.
It was such a lovely Penallta House micro wedding and I’m so grateful to have been able to capture it for them!
