It’s one thing photographing a clients wedding, it’s an entirely different ball-game photographing a family members! I was fortunate enough to be asked by my own mother to capture her intimate second wedding day to my [now] step-dad, Andy. They have been together for as long as I can remember and finally decided it was time (17 years later!) to tie the knot for real, and thus, Ali Ford became Mrs Waring!
May 6th came round before we knew it and finally it was the wedding day! Ali wanted a relaxed morning as the intimate ceremony-only 20 people- wasn’t until 3pm. The sun was shining, the new baby granddaughter was smiling and the dog (Murphy) was utterly oblivious to what was going to happen later in the day. Ali, with the help of her myself and my sister, put on her gorgeous wedding dress and jewellery and left for the wedding venue, TerraVina Hotel in the New Forest, Hampshire.
Ali and Andy married surrounded by only their close friends, family and Murphy of course who was the ring bearer. Murphy did a fantastic job of coming up to the top of the aisle with the rings tied around his neck on a yellow ribbon.I’ve never seen two people smile so much for an entire day! After the ceremony we all had canapés on the terrace in the late afternoon sun whilst the room was redecorated for dinner. TerraVina hotel is a hidden gem in the depths of the New Forest recognised for its fantastic food and wines which is why it was chosen as the location for Mr and Mrs Waring’s wedding.
I managed to sneak Ali and Andy away from their joyful friends and family for a few private moments in the grounds of the hotel for some intimate photographs together. Ali and Andy got their engagement and wedding rings designed and hand-made by Jeremy France Jewellers in Winchester who designed Ali’s rings to fit together.
It was such a wonderful day and after plenty of wine at dinner we all crashed, ready for the following day-The Reception and Party!
The following morning we awoke and went to the reception venue to set up. The venue was Ampfield Golf and country Club in Hampshire and the couple chose to stay with the same colour theme as the wedding the previous day. Most of the decorations were sourced or hand-made by Ali herself! The wedding cake was kindly made by Ali’s friend Tania who took up cake decorating as a hobby a few years ago. The guests starting arriving and Ali and Andy took their first dance to ‘When you say nothing at all- Ronan Keating’ before everyone else joined them on the dance floor. The whole evening was filled with dancing and laughter. Everyone joined in at least once which was exactly what Ali wanted. She didn’t stop smiling all evening!
Overall, it was a fantastic weekend and a brilliant way to celebrate my mum and step-dads love. I truly am honoured to be the one to capture it all!
