This was such a beautiful Christmas wedding at Audleys Wood hotel in Basingstoke.
Last Christmas, my dad announced to all of us that he had proposed to his long term partner, Marion! He also told us they were planning a Christmas wedding for the following year!
I can’t believe it’s been a whole year since then! They tied the knot at Audleys Wood in Basingstoke on December 7th 2019!
As it was both their second weddings, they didn’t want a huge wedding. They wanted their closest family and friends to watch them wed, followed by a lovely meal.
The Wedding Day
The day was sunny but chilly, a perfect winter wedding day! Marion got ready in the Jane Austen Bridal Suite with her daughter and step-daughters (me and my sister!). Andy got ready in a hotel room downstairs and made sure the hotel was perfect for the guests to arrive.
Marion’s son Matt, walked a beaming Marion down the aisle following Marion’s daughter Amy, who walked the aisle as a bridesmaid.
The ceremony was brilliant and relaxed. Both Marion and Andy are hilarious and are always joking with each other. At one point, Andy was stifling giggles so much that it almost looked like he had forgotten Marion’s name in the vows!
Andy’s brother gave a reading in the style of the Paddington Bear stories. Andy had adapted the words to fit the wedding day perfectly. Paddington is a huge love of both Andy and Marion’s so it was only fitting they paid homage to him in some way.
As they had no plans for an evening reception, they decided to surprise their guests with a first dance at the end of their ceremony! In true Andy and Marion style, it wasn’t a serious dance at all! They were inspired by Pulp Fiction and even wore sunglasses throughout the dance!
After the ceremony the guests enjoyed the roaring fires and mulled wine in the hotel lounge whilst a few family members braved the cold for the family photos.
We threw snowfetti over the couple outside in the gardens. We saved this for just the newlyweds’ children to throw whilst the guests inside were entertained by two amazing magicians from The Magic Circle. The snowfetti was perfect, it was a Christmas wedding at Audleys Wood after all.
The wedding breakfast room was decorated beautifully, with red sashes and gold decorations. The tables were names of all things glitter and gold- perfect for a Christmas wedding!
Speeches were given by Andy’s eldest daughter Jess, Andy himself and Marion’s son Matt. They brought up plenty of embarrassing stories from both Andy and Marion’s lives!
The skies outside turned a darker shade of blue as the guests said their goodbyes. Later on, the newlyweds braved the cold once more for some night time portraits in the grounds of Audleys Wood.
This was such a gorgeous Christmas wedding at Audleys Wood Hotel.
Huge thank you to Jessica Hayman Photography who captured this wedding alongside me so I could enjoy being a guest as well as a photographer.
