Mr & Mrs Brooks- St Tewdrics House, Chepstow Wales

Alice in Wonderland Wedding, St Tewdrics House When Cerys first got in touch with me to tell me that her wedding was going to be Alice in Wonderland wedding, I was so excited! I love a themed wedding and St Tewdrics House in Chepstow was the perfect location for it. St Tewdrics House is a 19th Century Italianate Villa and a purpose built wedding venue. It is set in 10 acres of Welsh countryside with views over the severn bridge too. We woke up to a typical Welsh day, grey and raining, but St Tewdrics looks beautiful in any weather. The girls got ready upstairs in one of the beautiful, ornate bedrooms. They were getting their hair and make-up done and the maid of honour was finishing writing her speech. The boys were down the corridor in another room getting their suits on and having last minute showers too! The ceremony room was decorated beautifully by the Bride’s talented mother and little hints towards the Alice in Wonderland wedding theme made it even more special. Even on a rainy day, the skylight in the ceiling flooded the room with light. They married under a beautiful arch handmade by Cery’s mother. Cerys proud son was the best man and ring bearer and he looked so smart in his top hat and tails. Cerys and Mathew and all of their guests braved the drizzle for confetti and the group photographs before heading inside for their Mad Hatter’s Tea Party! The evening brought a surprise Ice Cream Truck courtesy of Poppy’s Vintage Ices, guests singing with the band and a beautiful first...

Mr & Mrs Wiltshire- Villa Tolomei, Tuscany Italy, Italian Wedding

Villa Tolomei- Tuscany Wedding Oh my gosh where do I begin! Becci and Joel initially got in touch with me to see if I would consider doing a Tuscany wedding! Yes please! We met to discuss everything and then had their engagement session at Hengistbury Head back in May 2017. We had such a great time and I knew their wedding was going to be incredible. I flew to Pisa on the Monday morning and got the train to Florence. Florence is such a beautiful city and I can completely understand how they fell in love with the place. Becci even said her favourite part of the wedding planning was visiting Florence for all the wedding organisation! I mooched around the cobbled streets and found the best gelato bar (thanks for the recommendation Becci!) then met the couple and all the guests in a garden bar in the evening. Tuesday was Tuscany wedding day! We got up early and I went with the girls up the hill to the stunning Villa Tolomei. The villa used to be a historic Renaissance home but has been renovated and restored into a 5* luxury hotel. The villa is surrounded by the green hills of Marignolle and has a panoramic view of the Florentine hills down towards the old town. “We loved the Italian style villa with the large outdoor space and especially loved the views from the back of the venue and the driveway entrance. We wanted the majority of our wedding to be outside in the sunshine too.” It was 8:30am when we arrived at the venue and the ceremony wasn’t until 3pm so we had...

Mr & Mrs Wyatt- Combe House Hotel, Somerset

Combe House Hotel Wedding Natalie and Chris had the most amazing wedding down in Somerset at Combe House Hotel. The hotel is so sweet, it looks like a row of little cottages buried deep within the forest. They chose the venue after being recommended it by a friend. They fell in love with it’s quiet and beautiful location. The girls got ready in the bridal suite upstairs and enjoyed a morning of being pampered and also creating some hilarious scenes for the marryoke video! In the grounds of Combe House Hotel, the boys had their own lodge to get ready in. Natalie’s step-dad, Tom, walked her down the aisle after an emotional first look at the bottom of the stairs. They married outside in the courtyard next to the marquee and Natalie’s sister sang them down the aisle which was incredibly touching. Combe House Hotel is such a perfect place for wedding photographs. The grounds are just gorgeous! The hotel itself is a great backdrop but if you take a wander down the road, you can find a secret forest area complete with lush green trees and a river running through it! My second shooter, Ben, kindly brought his drone along with him to this wedding so we had so much fun following the Natalie and Chris on a stroll through the forest from the air. They had chosen travel and places they’d visited as the theme for their wedding and it worked perfectly with the blush pink colour scheme. The decor was beautiful in the marquee and I especially loved their popcorn ‘All because he popped the question’...

Mr & Mrs Canning- Bluebell Vineyard Wedding, West Sussex

Mr & Mrs Canning- Bluebell Vineyard Wedding, West Sussex Mr & Mrs Canning had the most gorgeous day for their Italian inspired wedding at Bluebell Vineyard in West Sussex. Hannah and James met a long time ago when James was being set up with her best friend Emma (now bridesmaid!). Hannah accompanied her as wing woman but when James and Hannah were introduce, they fell for each other instead! They’ve been together almost 9 years and James proposed whilst on holiday in Tuscany. They both really enjoy their wine, so after some wine tasting James popped the question! Wine was a big feature of their wedding day too. They married at Bluebell Vineyard in West Sussex which was the closest thing they could get to Tuscany without leaving the UK. The girls got ready at Alexander House Hotel & Spa and drove to the church in an old fashioned white taxi. Hannah’s brother walked her down the aisle to James who was waiting for her. The ceremony was so beautiful and emotional for everyone. The church grounds were perfect for confetti in the aisle of trees before heading down the road to the vineyard for their reception. The vineyard has beautiful grounds, an outside bar and a marquee that you can totally make your own. The guests enjoyed the July sunshine  before sitting down for the wedding breakfast and speeches. After dinner, I managed to take Hannah and James into the vines for some portraits away from their guests just as the sun was setting in the distance.  The evening brought crazy dancing, so much cheese and even more wine!...

Mr & Mrs West- St Giles House, Wimborne St Giles

St Giles House, Wimborne St Giles, Dorset I can’t begin to tell you just how excited I was to finally get to photograph Kate and Mike’s St Giles House Wedding! St Giles House has such a rich history and you can feel it as soon as you go inside. The house fell into a state of disrepair following the second world war but Lord Shaftesbury and his family have focussed the last 8 years on restoring it to it’s former glory and also adding in some quirky features along the way. During the restoration, they’ve kept tonnes of the original features, including exposed brick work and beams, original wallpaper and the ornate gold framed oil paintings too. But this decadent venue has a hidden secret, downstairs in the old wine cellar is a nightclub! Complete with wine barrel DJ booth and LED lighting running along the entire ceiling. Since the current Lord Shaftesbury did a stint of DJ-ing in New York, this was the perfect thing to do with St Giles House’s cellar.  And the perfect place for your wedding party to end! Kate and Mike chose to marry at this amazing venue and it suited them perfectly. The girls got ready in the Japan Room upstairs whilst Mike and his groomsmen put the finishing touches to downstairs and welcomed their guests. The ceremony took place in the dining room, with exposed rafters and walls covered in oil paintings. It was a truly magical setting! Drinks and canapés were had overlooking the grounds before sitting down for dinner in the grand library. Dusk came and brought  a gorgeous sunset...

Mr & Mrs Dowding- Holm House, Cardiff

Holm House Wedding What an absolutely glorious day we had for Hanne and Marc’s Holm House wedding in Penarth at the start of July. This pair tied the knot amongst their closest friends and family, most of whom had travelled from Sweden to be there! Hanne met Marc in London 10 years ago when she was travelling the UK with some friends. They decided to attend a festival where Marc’s band happened to be playing. They got talking outside the Camden venue where he invited Hanne to their next gig in London. “The rest is history! Two years later I moved over from Sweden and we have lived together since!” Marc proposed in the sweetest way; at home in their PJ’s with their dog on Christmas Eve! Hanne and Marc’s wedding was the first wedding that Hanne and her bridesmaids had been to, even as a guest! But you’d never have guessed as everything was organised perfectly. They had chosen a minimalist but oh-so-elegant theme of plain white and greenery which worked so well with Hanne’s sustainable wedding dress from Reformation! As it’s not traditional in Sweden, Hanne didn’t have her dad walk her down the aisle. Instead, Marc met her at the bottom of the stairs and they walked into their wedding ceremony together to Etta James – At Last. They married under a natural wooden arch covered in greenery in Holm House’s ceremony room which is filled with natural light. After the ceremony we took a stroll down to Penarth Pier and stopped in the gardens and on the stoney beach along the way for some photographs....

Mr & Mrs Voyle- Marshfield Church & Homewood Park

Marshfield Church & Homewood Park Wedding Harriet and Adam are two of the most amazing people I have been fortunate enough to meet. I feel so privileged to have had them come into my life and to document their wedding day was an absolute pleasure. Harriet chose to get ready at her mums house in the little village of Marshfield in South Gloucestershire. Meanwhile Adam finished getting ready at the local pub in the same village right next door to the church.  The whole of Marshfield was excited to see Harriet and Adam marry in their Parish church and you could feel the buzz around village. The morning was relaxed with the girls getting ready; Pippa the flower girl (and dog!) roaming around and Harriet’s dad and brother finalising the last few details for the rest of the day. The weather just about held off all morning but just as it was time to leave to walk to the church, it started to drizzle. Harriet’s dad walked her down the aisle to a tearful Adam. It didn’t take long before everyone was welling up! After the ceremony the guests headed to the reception at Homewood Park in Bath whilst I stayed with the newlyweds for some photographs. Harriet took me and Adam to a beautiful private field where she used to walk the dogs with her mum. Over at Homewood Park, Marshfield Ice Cream van was serving up ice cream to the guests, Pippa was chasing shuttlecocks and the guests were enjoying the grounds of the venue. The food was amazing, speeches were fantastic and all the guests pretty...

Mr & Mrs Lexton-Peck- St Mary Redcliffe Church and Over Barn, Gloucester

Mr and Mrs Lexton-Peck, Over Barn  Hannah and Sam were married on the 9th June 2018 at the gorgeous St Mary Redcliffe church in the centre of Bristol. The church is incredible, you can’t miss it. It’s over 800 years old and a masterpiece of gothic architecture. Hannah and Sam had their beautiful ceremony here before heading off in a VW camper to Over Barn in Gloucester. These two venues couldn’t have been more different but it worked so well! Over Barn a stunning rural venue that lets you put your own stamp on it by being a blank canvas. It’s not only charming but also is the ideal backdrop for a variety of stunning wedding photos too. It has the farm, a glade of trees, winding paths, Christmas tree fields and even a couple of Emus to take photos with! It was luck that I got to work with Hannah and Sam. Their original photographer unfortunately fell ill and I was only more than happy to step in for their Over Barn wedding with 3 weeks to go! The Wedding The ceremony was focused on bringing them together as a couple. The rest of their wedding was definitely all about having fun and celebrating with their friends and families. Weddings are always packed full of amazing moments, and this one was no exception. The best man was Sam’s brother and his speech incredibly funny and heart-warming. Although it also included a rather interesting choice of an envelope full of faux poo, which led to a story about a prank that Sam had played on him when he was younger....

Rounding up 2017!

This year truly has flown by but it’s been a total pleasure to share with all the wonderful couples who booked with us this year. Thank you to my wonderful couples who have trusted me to capture their incredible wedding days this year. 2017 has been truly special as it’s the first year I’ve thought:   ‘Yep, I can do this forever.’ This year saw Honeydew Moments take on it’s first Indian wedding (second shooting with Sheetal Varsani) and organise 2 epic styled wedding shoots with some talented suppliers too. It was also a huge achievement for us to have also been nominated for the Best of Welsh Wedding Awards for the categories ‘Best Photographer’ as well as ‘Best New Business’. It was completely unexpected but we ended up walking away with second place in Best New Business 2017! I feel honoured and privileged to have experienced each and every wedding day this year. Each wedding day has been different: we’ve had tipi’s, quaint churches, huge barns, grand manor houses and even castles! We’ve also had very windy days, rainy days and glorious sunny days too. Huge thanks to my wonderful assistants and second shooters this year: Siobhan, Leesha, Sheetal, Nisha, Lauren, Cammy and Josie too. You guys make my job so much easier, way more fun and you even listen to my crazy ramblings all day! The thrill I get from every wedding is amazing and I can’t wait to challenge and push myself further as I throw myself into 2018! Next year brings plenty more engagement sessions which I’m really excited for. It also brings my first dabble at destination...
